Spokane Valley opening cooling locations during heatwave

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — With the record-breaking heat wave coming to the pacific northwest and extremely hot temperatures predicted for this weekend and on, the City of Spokane Valley has designated a handful of cooling locations.
People can get out of the heat and, in most cases, receive water and snacks.
The current list of Spokane Valley locations include:
- Broadway Elementary (across the street from Spokane Valley Partners) located at 11016 E. Broadway Avenue. Beginning Monday, they will be open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and can accommodate up to 30 individuals. Water and snacks will be available as supplies last.
- Spokane Valley Partners located at 10814 E. Broadway Avenue. Beginning Monday, they will be open until 7 p.m. and can accommodate up to 35 individuals. Water and snacks will be available as supplies last.
- Opportunity Presbyterian Church located at 202 N. Pines Road. Beginning Sunday, this facility will be open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and can accommodate up to 15 individuals. Water and snacks will be available as supplies last.
- Valley library locations have lifted their 60-minute restriction on occupancy as people are welcome to come and stay during regular open hours. The library is open at 50 percent capacity.
