Representatives from the Spokane Tribe of Indians hope to communicate that the Spokane Tribe’s annual pow wow, the 97th Annual Spokane Tribal Pow Wow is still poised to happen.

Public relations director, Jamie Sijohn, says that the cancellation of the Riverfront Park Powwow held in downtown Spokane and sponsored by the area Tribes including the Spokane Tribe has led to some confusion regarding the pow wow held in Wellpinit.

The Riverfront Powwow after facing financial concerns in the past few years had to finally cancel for the first time in 25 years.

For those that had wished to attend the Riverfront Park Powwow, The Spokane Tribal Pow Wow, also known as the Wellpinit Pow Wow, is another option for visitors.

Event Details: The free of charge and public pow wow will kick off with the Spokane Tribal Royalty and children’s pow wow at 7 p.m. on September 1st at the Wellpinit Fairgrounds, 50 miles northwest of Spokane. The event will feature traditional dancing, singing and drumming until September 5th as well as an art auction on September 3rd.
