Spokane store wins national grocery award
SPOKANE, Wash. — Ask the experts, and they’ll tell you that a Spokane store is setting the bar for innovation in the grocery industry.
Spokane’s newly opened My Fresh Basket has been awarded Progressive Grocer’s Most Outstanding New Concept Store for 2017-18.
The award, presented at the recent National Grocer’s Association Convention in Las Vegas, is one of the most coveted in the supermarket industry.
“In an industry where stores constantly seek to differentiate themselves from competitors, we believe My Fresh Basket is the model for today’s shopper,” said Matt Grittner, the store’s director.
“Every element of this store has been deliberately planned to address emerging consumer preferences for local and organic products, convenience and lifestyle.”
My Fresh Basket opened for business in June of 2017. The store is half the size of traditional
supermarkets. “Perimeter shopping,” where customers can get fresh baked goods, beverages, deli
items and fresh produce has been the primary focus along with offerings of conventional grocery.
The growing demand for foods made close to home has been a driving force for the store. “We truly believe in growing together with our local vendors,” says Grittner. “The Pacific Northwest is full of amazing local producers that we feature throughout the store and that customers really enjoy discovering on our shelves.”
