A new 24-hour Spokane Public Library kiosk at the West Central Community Center will open during a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 17 at 11 a.m.

The 24/7 Library will provide 24-hour one-stop shop access to library resources through a special library vending machine. Customers will have 340 books and movies to choose from in a collection funded in part by Community Building Foundation and Councilmember Candace Mumm.

Users can pick up holds, return items, pay fines and use Wi-Fi hotspot.

“The 24/7 Library at the West Central Community Center is a perfect example of using a new technology to reach a previously underserved community,” says Andrew Chanse, Executive Director of Spokane Public Library. “This library ‘vending machine’ will bring the community 24-hour access to free books, movies and Wi-Fi.”

This is the first library kiosk of its kind in Washington State.
