Officer shot in North Spokane
SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane police officer has been shot in North Spokane on Sunday.
Before 2 p.m., police responded to a drive-by shooting. Another drive-by took place 15 minutes later, where a suspect opened fire on police without provocation.
The shootings took place near Perry, Walton and Empire.

Officers did not return fire. The officer shot sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. He was released on Monday.
Two suspects are in custody. Their charges and names are unknown at this point.
Drivers will be affected on these streets, as police will be conducting investigations in these areas:
600 East Dalton
Liberty and Nevada
Empire and Perry
1600 East Garland
3000 North Martin
The officer that was shot is in stable condition. The officer sustained injuries to their leg and head when he was shot near Perry Street.
Mayor Nadine Woodward and Police Chief Craig Meidl held a press conference talking about the shooting later on Sunday.
This is an ongoing investigation that will be taken over by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
