Spokane Police arrest wanted felon during traffic stop with help of SWAT team

Police, with the help of a SWAT team and K9, arrested a wanted felon on Friday who refused to get out of his car during a traffic stop.

The Spokane Police Department said PACT Officers initially tried to pull over multiple people, but the driver fled. Officers recognized one of the people in the car as 26-year-old Anthony Gibson who they learned had two felony warrants out for his arrest and was possibly armed.

Later that day, PACT Officers saw Gibson driving at W 10th Ave and Cherry St. They pulled him over, but said Gibson refused to get out of the car.

Officers called in the SPD SWAT team and a K9 unit to assist and barricaded the car. According to SPD, Anthony was taken into custody shortly after.
