Spokane Police Academy raising money to improve memorial for fallen officers
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Academy is working on a project that honors officers who’ve died in the line of duty.
There are two efforts the Spokane Police Department is undertaking to remember fallen officers:
- Spokane Regional Fallen Officers Memorial Project — Dedicates memorial signs to officers who died in the line of duty within Spokane County
- SPD Academy Fallen Officers Memorial Fund — Graduating classes of the Basic Law Enforcement Academy contribute and raise funds to improve the Law Enforcement Memorial at the Training Center
Each graduating class since 2019 has added something to the Law Enforcement Memorial at the Spokane Police Academy.
The memorial lists the names of Washington officers who have died in the line of duty since the late 1800’s.
Six classes total have worked on it and there’s still more to be done.
The Spokane Police Academy is hoping to add more to it, including a better paved walkway to make it more accessible to people with disabilities.
You can help the latest graduating class raise money to improve the memorial on the Spokane Police Academy training grounds.
The fundraising goal is $1,000.
