Spokane named among 10 Best Places to Retire
SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane’s urban amenities, natural beauty, affordability and more than 33 private and public golf courses were among the reasons it was chosen among the 10 Best Places to Retire, by Livability.com.
Livability ranked Spokane as 7th on the list. To determine this year’s best places to retire, Livability using data analyzed by it’s scientists, of all U.S. cities with a population between 20,000 and 300,000. It weeded out places with high healthcare costs. Using a number of data sources including the U.S. Census Bureau, Medicare, USDA and NOAA, eligible cities were ranked on more than 20 data points, including: community engagement, safety, hospital quality rating, natural disaster risk, climate and property tax rate.
“Choosing the perfect place to spend your retirement is a very personal decision, which is why this year’s list represents a wide variety of lifestyles, climates and geographic locations,” says Winona Dimeo-Ediger, Managing Editor of Livability.com.
