Spokane mayor makes good on bet, flies Baylor flag over City Hall

Baylor Flag

SPOKANE, Wash – Making good on a bet made over the NCAA men’s basketball championship, Mayor Nadine Woodward sent the Baylor University flag up the flag pole at Spokane City Hall Friday morning.

Woodward had a bet with Waco, Texas Mayor Dillon Meek. Whichever team won the championship game, the other city would fly the winning university’s flag.

We don’t have to remind Gonzaga fans how that game turned out.

True to her word, Mayor Woodward got some help Friday from Gonzaga Bulldog Spike, who delivered the flag to the mayor.

“Mayor Meek, a bet’s a bet. Your Baylor Bears had a great season and played a great final game against our Zags,” Woodard said in a video posted to the city’s social media pages Friday. “You and the rest of Texas should be very proud of your team, just like we are of the Gonzaga Bulldogs.”
