Spokane man accused of tying up, beating girlfriend found dead in Stevens County

STEVENS CO., Wash. — The man accused of tying up his girlfriend and beating her with a bat near Manito Park has been found dead.

Spokane Police Sergeant Terry Preuninger said Andrew Beitel was found dead in Stevens County. Their search for him is officially over.

Police responded to a home on South Grand Boulevard on Saturday after the victim used an Amazon Alexa device to call authorities. Police said she was found tied up and had been assaulted.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatning injuries.

Beitel had left the home before police arrived, prompting a search.

The circumstances surrounding Beitel’s death and where exactly his body was found were not clear.
