Spokane foodies take a bite out of sandwich topped with 24K gold garnish
SPOKANE, Wash. — All that glitters is gold on the Spokane sandwich a local chef recently served.
Chef Chad White created the certified A5 Wagyu beef brisket sandwich. The specialty meat was topped with kimchee pickles and salmon roe aioli. It was all stuffed between a bun made by Life Made Glorious, which is a new Spokane artisan bread shop. The unique bun included seaweed and furikake seasoning.
The sandwich was topped with 24K gold flakes, which only added to the elegance of enjoying a beef flown in from Japan.
White said Spokane’s food scene is growing.
“Instead of it just being a meal period, people are showing up looking for an experience, versus just a meal,” White said.
This specialty sandwich was part of a pop-up event by SecretBurger. The website allows foodies to reserve dishes on certain dates that are off the menu. Tickets for White’s event were listed as $40 per person.
White recently opened Spokane’s first lobster bar. High Tide Lobster Bar is located at 502 W. Riverside Ave. He also opened an award-winning ceviche bar called Zona Blanca, in downtown Spokane.
