Spokane Fire: Man falls to death from rocks at Riverside State Park
SPOKANE, Wash. — A young man fell to his death from the rocks at Riverside State Park on Friday, a spokesperson with the Spokane Fire Department said.
Emergency rescue teams initially responded to a technical rescue near the Morin Trailhead, in the 4500 block of N. Equestrian Ln. in Riverside State Park.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, a man in his early 20s was hiking with his friend on a high cliff when he fell.
That friend told deputies he looked up to see the man had vanished.
Because of the remote location, rescue crews said they had a hard time finding the man. A Life Flight helicopter was called in and eventually found him.
The man died at the scene, according to Spokane Fire’s Chief Operations Mark John.
