Spokane doesn’t make the cut for Amazon HQ
SPOKANE, Wash. — Amazon has narrowed down a list of places it’s considering to build its second headquarters and Spokane is not on it. The Lilac City threw its name into the hat this summer, hoping to benefit from the 5 billion dollars, and 50 thousand jobs the headquarters would bring.
A total of 238 cities applied for it. The top 20 cities are: Atlanta, GA, Austin, TX, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, Columbus, OH, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Indianapolis, IN, Los Angeles, CA, Miami, FL, Montgomery County, MD, Nashville, TN, Newark, NJ, New York City , NY, Northern Virginia, VA, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Raleigh, NC, Toronto, ON and Washington D.C. As you see, no cities in Washington, Idaho, or Oregon made the cut.
The company previously said it was looking for a metropolitan area with 1 million people or more, and a stable, business-friendly environment.
Amazon expects to make it’s final decision sometime this year.
