Spokane County Sheriff’s Office holds ‘Holidays and Heroes’ drive
SPOKANE, Wash. — Members of the law enforcement community stopped at Barney’s Harvest Foods for a very special cause Saturday.
Deputies, Chaplains, and Explorers from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office were raising money and collection food for their ‘Holidays and Heroes’ food and donation drive.
The money is used to help 30 families during the holiday season. Children are taken shopping so they can pick out presents for their families. While that happens, a special shopper keeps an eye out for gifts for the child.
It’s a way for law enforcement to give back and make a huge impact on these children.
“They’d get to go pick out presents for their family,” says Bryan Hutchins, a Captain with the Explorer’s Post.. “Generally they’ve never had the opportunity to actually have a little bit of money to spend for their family and they’re so excited to get certain things for their parents and siblings.”
You can drop off donations at the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office for Explorers in Spokane Valley.
