Spokane City Council selects finalists for vacant seat in district 2

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane City Council has selected its list of finalists for the open seat in district 2.

More than 30 people applied for the position, which became vacant when Councilman Breean Beggs was elected as president of the council.

The list of finalists includes:

  • Alan Dickson Chatham
  • Pia Hallenberg Christensen
  • Randy Ramos
  • Katey Randall Treloar
  • John Waite
  • Michelle L. Weaver
  • Betsy L. Wilkerson

“We had a number of great applicants with excellent qualifications and it was difficult to narrow the finalists to these seven indiviuduals,” Beggs said. “Thank you to everyone who applied and to all who reached out in support of applicants.”

The finalists will be interviewed during an open public meeting on January 13 at 10 a.m. The city council will select the new councilmember in a special meeting following the interviews.
