Spokane church vandalized, police asking for tips
SPOKANE, Wash — The Spokane Police Department is asking the public for help to find out who broke into a Spokane church, stole a guitar, and caused thousands of dollars worth of damage Thursday night or early Friday morning.
Police were called to the Bethel Church of the Nazarene on Spokane’s South Hill just after 5:30 a.m. following reports of a burglary. The suspect(s) broke in through a basement window, according to Cpl. Teresa Fuller. She noted that this burglary is unique in that the criminal(s) didn’t just break in and steal things, they also vandalized the church.
Photos shared by SPD show a urinal and drinking fountain ripped off the walls, a sink ripped out of the counter, and cupboard doors torn from their hinges. There was also food strewn around the church and other items moved and broken.
The youth pastor’s guitar was also reported stolen. It looks similar to the one in this photo below. It’s described as an Alvarez guitar with a Fishman pickup installed. The guitar had a green floral strap attached to it.
Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
