Spokane chef finalist in national pizza bake-off

A professional chef was named among the best in a national pizza bake-off competition.

Ricky Webster was selected as one of 11 finalists in the 2019 Real California Pizza Contest. It’s a search for the best recipes using the brand Real California Cheese.

Webster’s entry is titled The Chard to Resist. It features ricotta cheese, hot honey and shallots.

The Spokane chef will fly to California next week to compete for the $25,000 prize money that will be awarded to the chef with the most innovative pizza. Webster will prepare his creation during a live bake-off finale on May 9.

The contest was open to professional chefs and culinary students across the United States.

This isn’t Webster’s first time in the national spotlight. He’s been featured in multiple Food Network challenges and recently won $10,000 on the Christmas Cookie Challenge.
