Spokane airport Starbucks stand has gift card for TSA workers amid shutdown
SPOKANE, Wash. — If you’ve been looking for a way to help TSA agents working without pay, the Starbucks stand inside the Spokane International Airport may have something for you.
Mareesha Backman told KXLY in a message that she was traveling to see her sister when she was in line at the Spokane International Airport Starbucks stand for a coffee. A TSA worker was in front of her in line, and she knew she wanted to pay for whatever they ordered. To her surprise, it turns out someone had a similar idea.
The stand has a confirmed there is a gift card in place that TSA workers can use to pay for their drinks or food as they work without pay. The Starbucks stand told us they’re not sure when the card started, but if you find yourself in the airport, you can ask to add money to the card.
“[It’s] great way to support those workers who are showing up without pay and to thank them for allowing us to travel with ease,” Backman said. “They have families and bills to pay … let’s make it so they don’t have to worry as much about food for lunch.”
The stand’s hours are 4 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays, according to their website.
