SPD: 50-time convicted felon arrested for stealing necklace with ashes of victim’s loved one
SPOKANE, Wash. — A necklace containing the ashes of a loved one has been returned to the victim of a recent car prowling, all thanks to the public’s help.
Spokane Police officers arrested 48-year-old Brian Danner, a 50-time convicted felon, in connection to the theft.
Police said surveillance video that aired on local news showed Danner breaking into the car and stealing items. The video clearly showed the suspect vehicle, and a citizen helped get the license plate number.
That information helped lead police to Danner. A citizen called 911 to report the suspect vehicle parked near E. Central Ave and N. Regal St. Police arrested Danner there and recovered a backpack, winter coat and a necklace containing the victim’s uncle’s ashes.
Danner has a lengthy criminal history. He has over 50 felony convictions, including possession of a stolen motor vehicle, first-degree theft, possession of stolen property, robbery, residential burglar and dozens of other crimes.
Danner is being held on $5,000 and has been charged with second degree theft.
