South Carolina student’s death sparks Uber, Lyft safety concerns

Police in Columbia, South Carolina suspect a college student was killed by a man she thought was her Uber driver.

21-year-old Samantha Josephson was last seen on security video getting into a car, which she thought was an Uber, early Friday morning. Her body was found over the weekend in a field. Police charged 24-year-old Nathaniel Rowland with kidnapping and murder and said they found Josephson’s cell phone and blood in his car.

Josephson’s death has sparked concerns over rideshare safety. KXLY 4’s Kyle Simchuk looked into things you should consider before booking your next trip.
