Source of shooting threat at Cheney Middle School identified
CHENEY, Wash. — The source of a shooting threat at Cheney Middle School was identified on Tuesday, the school’s principal said.
In a release, Principal Mike Stark said, after an extensive investigation, the CMS admin team and Cheney Police Department determined the threat was not credible.
The Cheney School District said parents of Cheney Middle School students could expect to see extra police officers when dropping their kids off at school on Tuesday.
In a message to parents sent Monday, school officials said a student reported a shooting threat inside a stall of the 6th grade girls’ bathroom. The threat said, “Next School Shoting [sic] 9/23/19 or 9/24/19.”
The school districts said the threat was immediately reported to the Cheney Police Department, which began an investigation. As a precaution, Cheney Police increased their patrols at the school for Tuesday.
