Sound Off for September 4th: What do you think of the new Downtown Parklet?
They’re tiny parks. Simply the size of two parking spots. One has popped up in Downtown Spokane.
It’s the brainchild of a nonprofit organization called, Yes, or You Express Studio. The group got the idea from San Francisco and they’ve popped up in Seattle as well. The parklets offer seating, flowers and bike racks.
Spokane’s parklet is on Main Street right in front Wollnick’s. It’s not permanent. The project will stay there for 60 days. It’s set up in the loading zone in front of the store.
The whole point: to encourage people to come downtown and enjoy the stores and the scene.
The project is all privately funded.
