Some city pools will remain open longer this summer

Updated – 2:27 p.m. – You’ve probably checked out the weather report for the next few days and are wondering why the pools are being shut down so early. There are certainly not enough kiddie pools to accommodate every user of the city pools. There actually isn’t. However, the city plans to keep some of the pools open a little longer this summer.

Witter Aquatic Center will be open for swim team and lap swimming only through September 9th. Their hours of operation will be weekdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.

The centrally-located Cannon Aquatic Center will be available for open swim through September 10th. Their hours of operation will be 4 to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 1 to 4 p.m. on weekends.

Unfortunately, these will be the only pools open. Comstock and Hillyard will close as planned with the scheduled doggie dips on August 28th and 29th. Shadle and Liberty pools are closing as well on August 27th.
