Snoqualmie Pass closed, 1 dead after Friday morning crashes

5:50 P.M. UPDATE: Eastbound lanes of I-90 are slated to re-open at 8:00 p.m. Friday, according to WSDOT.

4:25 P.M. UPDATE: Eastbound lanes of I-90 still closed. Crews will reevaluate at 6:00 p.m. today.

1:30 P.M. UPDATE: Eastbound lanes of I-90 still closed. Crews will reevaluate at 4:00 p.m. today.

12:00 P.M. UDATE: Westbound lanes of I-90 are now open. WSDOT says roadways are “bare and wet.” Eastbound are slated for reevaluation at 2 p.m.

11:00 A.M. UPDATE: Westbound lanes of I-90 are scheduled to reopen at 12:30. However, eastbound lanes will remain closed due to the amount of collisions that still need to be cleared. WSDOT will reevaluate at 2:00 p.m.

7:30 A.M. UPDATE: The pass will remain closed until at least noon Friday. The DOT tweeted around 7:30 a.m., saying:

Due to the number of collisions and icy conditions we plan to evaluate at noon today to determine a reopening time for I-90. Currently it remains closed between North Bend and Ellensburg.

According to Washington State Patrol Trooper John Bryant, there have been seven crashes so far Friday morning. In total, six semis and four cars are involved.

One person has died in a collision in the eastbound lanes at milepost 61, near Easton.

I-90 Snoqualmie Pass is closed both directions due to icy road conditions and crashes blocking the road.

According to WSDOT, eastbound traffic is stopped milepost 34 in North Bend. Westbound traffic is closed at milepost 106 in Ellensburg.
