Snake falls from tree, lands on man

A California man visiting Florida had the scare of a lifetime when a snake fell from a tree and wrapped itself around his arm.

Jake Collier told WKMG he was visiting his in-laws in Melbourne Beach when the snake abruptly fell from a banana tree on the property.

“The snake literally flew off the tree and wrapped around my arm, and I grabbed it and I threw it back into the bush,” Collier told WKMG.

Collier called 911 just to make sure he hadn’t been bitten, and medics determined he was OK.

Keith Winsten, executive director of the Brevard Zoo, told WKMG that the snake was likely just as surprised.

He said the reptile was likely a non-venomous rat snake.

By the way, Collier’s parents cut down the tree.
