Skier fatally injured after colliding with tree at Mission Ridge
WENATCHEE, Wash. — A 25-year-old Kirkland, Wash., man was fatally injured Wednesday afternoon at Mission Ridge Ski Resort in Wenatchee after he struck a tree on a ski run, according to Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett.
Witnesses say that the man lost control while on the “Lip Lip” run at 12:05 p.m. He traveled off the right side of the run and hit a tree. Ski Patrollers at the resort responded to the area and treated the victim who was unconscious and unresponsive.
The victim was transported to a medical room at the bottom of the ski resort where medics continued treating him. Medics were unable to revive the man who died from his injuries.
His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
