Short car chase ends in crash, killing CDA man
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — A 20-year-old Coeur d’Alene man identified as Patrick Calligan died when he lost control of his 2005 Ford Crown Victoria and crashed just north of Seltice way after midnight Sunday.
A Kootenai County deputy saw Calligan driving recklessly and tried to pull him over.
Calligan didn’t stop, which led to a short chase beginning at W. Prairie Ave. and N. Huetter Rd.
The pursuit ended with Calligan crashing north of Seltice Way. According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Calligan was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the situation.
