Shining Star – The Return of Colson Yankoff
High school football is back, and so too is Colson Yankoff
“You know I always kept the end goal in mind and that was getting back here and being able to play on Fiday night.”
Couer D’Alene’s star quarterback has the pads on once again after missing the first two games of last year recovering from an offeseason miniscus tear.
“A lot of time to think about things so I learned a lot about myself and a lot about how I handle things and deal with them which is good.”
The senior is regarded as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the country. The sixth best, according to 247 Sports.
“He is the guy but he does not act like the guy. He is just another football player on our football team. Kids love him.”
The prized recruit is just as impressive off the field, sporting better than a 4.2 GPA.
“It is something I am going to take very seriously in college as well. I am not, obviously I want to take football as far as I can take it but I am going to have a backup plan I guess if you will as well.”
But the plan for now? Ending his Viking career on top.
“We have the state championship in mind as any team would. I don’t really care about numbers besides the ones that were on the scoreboard at the end of the game.”
