Shining Star Senior Night: honoring Medical Lake’s Hammond

SPOKANE, Wash. — With the high school Spring sports season being shut down, thousands of area Senior’s saw their athletic careers come to an end without one final season to compete.  We continue to honor our Seniors and recognize their hard work by giving them their own Senior Night moment.

Tonight we honor Medical Lake’s dual-sport star Mason Hammond.  Mason transferred to Medical Lake just last year but his impact will be long-lasting.  He was a two year starter at linebacker and fullback on the football team, and an all-league outfielder for the Cardinals.

Mason was nominated by his baseball coach Austin Sharp who said, “Mason is an example I will use for years to come.  He walked into any situation with the attitude of ‘I’m going to win,’ he never backed down from any challenge.

Mason was also able to step up to the plate in the classroom where he has a 3.5 overall GPA including a 4.0 this year.

Time is running out if you would like to nominate your favorite Senior student-athlete for Senior Night, just click on the Shining Star story at the top of the sports page at KXLY.com and fill out the nomination form today.
