Shining Star Senior Night: ACH’s Correia and Oliver
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Almira/Coulee-Hartline softball team has won back-to-back 1B state championships. This year, they were younger but still had the foundation of two strong seniors. Kendel Correia and Makenna Oliver are honored on Shining Star Senior Night.
Kendel Correia: A varsity starter for four years, Correia has played left field, second base and catcher. Her head coach, Graham Grindy was impressed with her plate presence over the past season as she his .354 in her career with 82 hits and a .450 OBP. She is known to step up in pressure situations, and has been vital to the Warriors’ success.
Makenna Oliver: Makenna is also a four-year starter in softball, and has made centerfield her home. Coach Grindy says her speed makes her unlike any other player, as she can track down balls others can’t. She has a strong arm which pairs well with the athleticism, and has a .480 batting average with 120 hits in her three years. She was ACH’s no. 2 pitcher last year, and would’ve stepped up as the ace this year.
