On November 26, 2014, Kootenai County Deputy Sheriff Christopher Wagar was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the Jail Bureau.


Sergeant Wagar was hired by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office in July of 2010 and assigned to the Jail Bureau as a Deputy Sheriff . Duties while assigned as a Jail Deputy included coordination of daily court transportation of inmates, floor deputy, and being a POST Certified instructor in Reporting Writing, In-Custody Death, and Instructor Development.


Prior to starting at the Sheriff’s Office, Sergeant Wagar served in the United States Air Force from 1995 to 2004, where he served as an Airman First Class – Security Forces Leader, Senior Airman – Desk Sergeant/Elite Guardsman, and Staff Sergeant – Asst. Flight Chief/Installation Patrolman. During this time, Wagar earned the Airman’s Medal, Purple Heart, Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Recognition Ribbon.


From 2004 to 2007, Wagar received his Associates in Arts – Criminal Justice, Associates in Arts – Mass Communications, and his Bachelor of Arts – Mass Communications – News Editorial.


After graduation, in 2007 Wagar was a hired as a Television Reporter for KHQ Television in Spokane, WA. In 2008 he worked for Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene as a Communications and Marketing Specialist. In 2009 Wagar was the News Director for KXLY Radio Group in Coeur d’Alene.
