Dump truck crash injures 7, driver charged

SPOKANE, Wash. — Seven people were injured when a dump truck crashed into two buildings in Spokane, including Dutch Bros, and the driver has been charged.

McGavin Medrain, 48, was arrested for DUI and has been charged with vehicular assault for the crash.

Spokane Police said the crash happened at 5th and Freya just before noon on Friday. The truck, carrying a Case SV280 excavator, crashed through nine cars and two buildings; the coffee shop and an unmanned office space.

Several people had non-life threatening injuries, and two Dutch Bros employees are in the hospital. No deaths have been reported.

The investigation is ongoing. All roads around 5th and Freya will be closed for the next several hours.
