Semi crash, hazmat spill close eastbound I-90 near St. Regis
ST. REGIS, Montana — A semi crash and hazmat spill completely shut down I-90 in western Montana early Wednesday. One westbound lane has since reopened.
The crash happened just after midnight at milepost 26, just west of St. Regis. The Montana Transportation Department did not say what hazardous material was spilled.
Traffic was blocked in both directions for hours. One westbound lane was reopened around 5:30 a.m., but both eastbound lanes remain closed.
Drivers are being detoured off exit 135 to highway 200, according to the Montana Transportation Department.
The eastbound closure is expected to last ‘an extended amount of time,’ no estimated reopening time was given.
