Seahawks beat Cardinals 19-9, move to 3-3 on the year
SEATTLE, — The Seattle Seahawks are now 3-3 after beating the Arizona Cardinals 19-9 Sunday afternoon at Lumen Field.
The Hawks were coming off a 39-32 loss against the Saints in Week 5. The high-scoring affair in New Orleans was nothing like what happened on Sunday in Seattle.
Through three quarters, both defenses were playing hard, allowing a combined 21 points. A Cardinals field goal gave them
If you had Seattle kicker Jason Myers on your fantasy team on Sunday, you were a happy coach. All 12 points from the Seahawks in the first three quarters came from Myers, hitting four field goals.
Toward the end of the quarter, the Hawks were pinned deep in their own territory. This would result in the first touchdown of the game, as punter Michael Dickson would have his attempt blocked by Arizona’s Chris Banjo, recovering the ball and scoring a touchdown. Cardinals kicker Matt Ammendola missed the extra point, making the score 12-9 in favor of the Hawks.
The Hawks would march down the field and respond with a touchdown of their own. Running back Kenneth Walker III had a big day on the ground, scoring a touchdown on an 11-yard run, buffering the Seahawks’ lead to 10 points. Walker finished the day with 21 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Even though Kyler Murray and the Cardinals got more yards than the Seahawks, it would be timely plays and third-down defense that would help the Seahawks win. The Cardinals were 4-15 on third down, creating two fumbles as well.
The Seahawks will travel to LA to play against the Chargers.
