SANDPOINT, ID — Schweitzer’s “Own the Night” program raised over $50,000 this past winter for 10 different organizations.

The 20-year program helps non-profit organizations raise money during the winter months. For each ticket sold, half of the sales are given to selected non-profit organizations in the area.

“Each winter, we select a few organizations to be the beneficiaries of our Own the Night program,” Resort Services Director Jade Smith said. “Then, when guests purchase a twilight skiing ticket online, they can choose which organization they would like to support. It’s been a great way for some of our local clubs, schools, and youth organizations to get a much-needed financial boost during the winter.”

Twilight skiing at Schweitzer normally goes from around Christmastime to mid-March. With 500 total skiers and 26 twilight skiing sessions, Smith said the program is becoming a staple to the Spokane community, becoming a win-win opportunity for people to get to ski and provide funds to local nonprofits.

The Own the Night program plans to return next season. The group of nonprofits selected will be available this December.
