Route of the Hiawatha bike trail to open for the season this Friday
WALLACE, Idaho — Get your bikes ready! The Hiawatha Trail will open for the summer season this Friday.
The popular trail winds through the Bitterroot Mountains along the Idaho/Montana border. Riders go through railroad tunnels and across trestles, along 15 miles of beautiful scenery.
The trail is perfect for families and kids of all ages. The ride is downhill with a bus to carry riders back to the top at the end.
Riders begin by checking in at the Lookout Pass Ski Area. There, you can pick up trail passes, maps, rental bikes, helmets and lights.
The cost to ride the Route of the Hiawatha is $13 for adults and $9 for children ages 5-12.
