Rescue crews searching for possible missing skier at Silver Mountain

KELLOGG, Idaho — Silver Mountain Resort said their rescue crews are searching for a possible missing skier following Tuesday’s avalanche.

According to a Facebook post, the resort received a call from a concerned family member about a skier they have been unable to contact. The resort said they confirmed this person was skiing at Silver on Tuesday during the time of the avalanche.

Silver Mountain Ski Patrol is again coordinating rescue efforts with the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, with 30 search and rescue crew members from several agencies and jurisdictions assisting.

Two people were killed in the avalanche and five were rescued with minor injuries.

The mountain is closed Wednesday.
