Report: Finland’s president headed for re-election

With nearly 60 percent of ballots counted, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto is headed towards an election win and another six years in office, The Associated Press reported.

The incumbent garnered 63.8 percent of votes cast Sunday, the AP reported. The Greens’ Pekka Haavista had 10.9 percent. The other six candidates received less than 7 percent.

Niinisto will need a majority of votes to win re-election and prevent a runoff, the AP reported.
