Rep. Matt Shea talks about the persecution of Christians at church gathering

Spokane Valley Representative Matt Shea spoke about the threat to Christianity on a national and global level during a gathering at Covenant Church on Wednesday.

Specifically, Shea said Christians are being persecuted in the U.S., and that he wants to see more Christianity in government and politics.

“Recently there has been this push to label Christians in America as Christian supremacists,” Shea said. “If you say Christianity is not being persecuted in America, not only are you wrong; I would also have to question something like that when the facts are so clear in the opposite direction.”

Shea is currently being investigated by state leaders.

An investigative report by the Guardian accused the Republican legislator of secretly organizing surveillance and discussing violence against liberal groups.
