Put the Happy Back in your Holidays: Ensure packages arrive before Christmas with these deadlines
SPOKANE, Wash. — We all know the holiday season is a busy time.
It can be hard enough to get all your shopping done in time, and there’s even less room for procrastination when you have to add time for those gifts to travel to your loved ones.
As Christmas quickly approaches, time is running out to make sure your gifts get there on time.
If you’re shipping through the United States Postal Service, you’ll want to act fast.
This Friday, December 14th is the last day USPS can guarantee your packages will be delivered in time using standard shipping. If you ship after that, you’ll have to pay extra in order for your packages to get where they’re going before Christmas Day. You can ship using first class or priority mail until December 20th.
If you need the weekend to finish your baking or get a few more gifts to send, you might want to use FedEx or UPS.
Using FedEx ground, their cheapest option, you have until Monday, December 17th to guarantee on-time delivery.
With UPS, you can ship packages on Tuesday, December 18th, using the 3 Day Select option.
If you’re willing to pay a little more, you can actually wait all the way up until Christmas eve, or even Christmas Day using the overnight or same day shipping options. But it’ll cost you extra! Find more on all holiday shipping deadlines here.
If you don’t need to mail anything, but still have some things to order and get under the tree, most online retail sites will tell you when you go to check out if your package is expected to make it on time.
For Amazon Prime members, qualifying orders can be placed all the way up until December 22nd and they should still be delivered before Christmas.
