Put down the sunglasses and pick up an umbrella -Nikki
Here is your local weather forecast for Saturday, February 22
SPOKANE, Wash. — I hope you’ve basked in enough sunshine, because changes are coming to our forecast! Sunday will bring cloud cover and wet weather.
Sunset time tonight is 5:23 p.m. If you haven’t gone outside yet to absorb some vitamin D, the clock is ticking!
Conditions will stay mostly clear tonight. Temperatures overnight will stay in the low 30s. Bundle up! I’d throw a puffer on or a thick coat before you head out tonight. Be aware of freezing fog late this evening. This brings the potential for slick spots on the roads and low visibility levels. Drive safely!
Your Sunday will be a little more grey than we’ve been used to this past week. Expect cloud cover and some wet weather. If you’re headed out early tomorrow for Sunday plans, bring a rain jacket or an umbrella.
Plan for gusty winds! Sunday afternoon wind speeds are expected to come in at 15-25 mph from the southwest. We may also see up to 35 mph wind gusts.
Important note: judging by the latest models, the weather system looks like it’ll be headed in earlier than initially forecasted for. We are expecting the possibility for rain and snow showers for tomorrow morning and afternoon, rather than Sunday night into Monday.
Look at the picture below. You’ll notice that dark blue band. That’s snowfall. The system passes through western Washington first, bringing snow to the mountains. Pay attention to pass conditions, if you’re going to be driving tomorrow! Our area may also see some light snow showers Sunday morning, mainly for the mountains.

Look at this picture below. This is Sunday at noon. That weather system lightened up on the west side, and now it’s over our area in eastern Washington. Notice how we have a mix of green and blue. The green means rain. Towards the valley floor, we will mostly see rain showers. Mountains can expect some snow. Some areas may see a rain/snow mix. Snow level will be at 3000 feet.
Sunday – as of tonight – is the only day showing some weather action. The work week looks to be dry and mostly sunny. Temperatures will be well above average towards the end of the week, into the 50s.
Make it a great weekend! -Nikki
