SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Coalition is bringing back its Purple for a Purpose promotion for a second straight year.

This monthlong event helps spread awareness about domestic violence and invites the Spokane community to show their support to End the Violence.

The SRDVC is partnering with over 100 local businesses, restaurants, bars and coffee houses this year. This promotion will last all through October, which is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Reports show that Spokane experiences higher rates of domestic violence than anywhere else in Washington, with a 40 percent increase in law enforcement calls since 2020. Domestic violence can often lead to homelessness, medical and health complications, and trauma.

A portion of sales from this event will go directly to support domestic violence victims in the Spokane community. Locals are encouraged to get out and visit at least one Purple for a Purpose location this month.

You can find out which businesses are participating in this promotion here. Learn more about the Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Coalition here.

YWCA Spokane will also be hanging purple banners across downtown throughout October.
