Puppies and lizards and pigs, oh my! The Northwest Pet Expo returns to the Fairgrounds Saturday

Whether you’ve got pets at home and want to learn more about local resources or you are in the market to add to your family, the Northwest Pet Expo has a little something for everyone.

The annual event is back at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center and this year, promises to be bigger than years past with more animals, vendors and interactive activities.

Living Water Lawn and Tree Care is sponsoring a large rescue room at the Expo, that will house various rescue groups from our area with animals ready to find their forever homes.

Brooklyn Robinson with SCRAPS Hope Foundation, the main sponsor of the Expo explained, “you have a chance to see all the rescue organizations in Spokane that have chosen to come to this event and talk directly to their staff and volunteers and get a really good sense of what organization you might want to support and find what animal is best for you. This event is like a one stop shop rather than driving all over town.”

If you already have too many pets, or maybe you aren’t able to have one, there are plenty of other things to do. From a doggie fashion show to talks with experts on topics like allergies, service animal exhibits and demonstrations and even a reptile room!

“I think, actually the first thing I cannot wait for is the basset hound competition where they are actually going to be howling. I heard there might be some chihuahas involved so I think it will be a super fun event to watch,” added Brooklyn.
