Program provides local seniors with vouchers for fresh produce

SPOKANE, Wash. – Local seniors in need will have access to fresh fruits and vegetables this summer thanks to a program through Catholic Charities Eastern Washington.
The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides local seniors with $80 vouchers that can be used at participating farmers’ markets.
Over $200,000 in vouchers will be distributed to more than 2,500 seniors following a random drawing in June.
Those eligible for the program must feel all of the following:
- You must be 60 or older (or 55+ if you are Native American/Alaska Native)
- Your income must be below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. That means:
- $25,142 Annual or $2,096 Monthly Income for 1 person
- $33,874 Annual or $2,823 Monthly Income for 2 people
- For larger households, add $728 per month for each additional person
- You must be a resident of Spokane County
