Professor dies on University of Idaho campus
MOSCOW, Idaho — A chemistry professor died Wednesday afternoon on the University of Idaho campus.
The student newspaper reported Thomas Bitterwolf’s death in Malcom Renfrew Hall, but says the cause and time of death are unknown.
According to the Argonaut newspaper, Bitterwolf, who was a Navy veteran, reportedly worked at the university for more than 30 years, receiving several awards for his research focusing on chemical synthesis and physical study. He also served on the UI Faculty Council from 2000 to 2001.
UI President Chuck Staben sent an email to students and staff Wednesday night. It read “The passing of a Vandal family member can understandably have significant impacts on those left behind. Students impacted by Tom’s loss and needing assistance during this time are encouraged to contact the Counseling & Testing Center.”
