Post Falls woman wins big in Idaho Lottery raffle
POST FALLS, Idaho — Sometimes, it pays to follow the Idaho Lottery on Facebook.
Lisa Clough, of Post Falls, saw on the social media site that the state lottery was hosting a promotional event at her local Super 1 Foods. They were offering tickets for the $1 million raffle, and holiday scratch tickets. Clough figured she couldn’t go wrong with a free scratch ticket, and sent her son down to the store to pick them up.
“I said, “I think I’m having a heart attack,” she said at a press conference today.
Clough and her husband are both on disability and travel is a challenge for them. Driving down to Boise in December to turn in her winning ticket wasn’t exactly an option.
“For a ticket that’s a million dollars, it’s a rare occasion that we’ll say ‘hey, pop it in the mail,'” said David Workman, a public information officer for the Idaho Lottery.
For Clough, the lottery did. Now, she plans to use her winnings wisely.
“Maybe buy a house and invest some, just take it slow not get it in a hurry to do anything right now,” she said.
The Post Falls Super 1 Foods also benefits. They received a $20,000 check from the lottery today. Workman said Clough’s ticket is the largest winning ticket sold by Super 1 Foods as a chain.
