Police: Truck driver didn’t know he hit pedestrian

Spokane Police say that a truck driver that was involved in a fatal collision last month did not know he had a pedestrian at the intersection of 2nd and Thor.

Larue Brown was hit by a truck shortly before 6 a.m. on November 23 as he stepped off the curb.

At first the case was investigated as a hit-and-run but after contacting the truck driver and interviewing him the investigation found that he had no knowledge he had hit someone. Evidence at the scene showed the driver stopping at the flashing red light southbound on Thor and then began turning west on to 2nd Avenue when Brown stepped into the crosswalk and was hit by the truck.

Detectives do not believe any criminal charges will be filed in the case. They are currently waiting for toxicology results from Brown’s blood in order to wrap up their case.
