Police: Scammers posing as SPD to try to steal your money
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department issued a warning Saturday that someone is posing as SPD to trick potential victims into giving up their money.
SPD said the number looks like a local number. The caller told victims they didn’t pay a bond and now have to pay an officer money so they don’t go to jail.
The department issued a release that reminded people law enforcement will never call people with warrants requesting payment to take care of legal issues.
If you have gotten a call like this or think you’ve been scammed, call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
