SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police responded to the Best Western on N. Newport Highway for reports of a shooting and robbery early Thursday morning.

Witnesses told police they heard arguing, yelling and possible gunshots at the hotel just before 6 a.m.

People were seen running from the hotel and somebody drove away from the scene. Officer John O’Brien said they pulled that car over and detained the people inside. A female inside was arrested on an outstanding warrant, but no one was arrested regarding the robbery.

Officers found a shell casing inside the hotel, but did not find anyone who had been struck by a gunshot.

Editor’s Note: Police originally said this incident took place at a La Quinta hotel, but later corrected themselves. This story has been updated to reflect that new information.
