Police looking for passenger who walked away from Freya Way Bridge crash

Spokane Police are looking for a person they said walked away from a serious crash on the Freya Way Bridge early Thusday morning.

SPD said a blue sedan jumped the median heading northbound around 6:00 a.m. The car then collided head-on with a black sedan that had attempted to swerve out of the way.

The driver of the blue sedan was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after they were extricated. A passenger in that car walked away from the scene; police are now looking for that person.

SPD said they are conducting an investigation for the crimes of vehicular assault and DUI.

The driver of the black sedan stayed on scene and was uninjured.

Police said they believe drugs and alcohol to be a factor in the crash.

Police reopened the bridge around 12:20 p.m. Thursday.
